Matsushima-machi has long enjoyed a reputation for its natural scenery: back in the 17th century, scholar Hayashi Gaho listed its bay as one of the Three Views of Japan.
Start off your visit on the 24th (Mon): admire the masterpieces at Ishinomori Manga Museum, step off the mainland to explore Fukuurajima, then snap pictures at Fukuurabashi Bridge, then get engrossed in the history at Michinoku Date Masamune Historical Museum, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Entsu-in Temple. Keep things going the next day: take in the views from Sukashi Bridge, steep yourself in history at Godaido, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Zuiganji, then take an in-depth tour of Tohoku History Museum, and finally see the interesting displays at Toyoma Education Museum (Old Toyoma Elementary School).

If you are flying in from Finland, the closest major airport is Sendai Airport. In June, plan for daily highs up to 25°C, and evening lows to 23°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 25th (Tue) to allow time to travel back home.
