With surrounding medieval walls and network of 15th- and 16th-century architecture, the city of Ferrara is often deemed the Heart of the Italian Renaissance.
Start off your visit on the 20th (Sun): stop by La Linea dell'arte & delle Carte, pause for some serene contemplation at Ferrara Cathedral, then see the interesting displays at Museo Archeologico Nazionale, then view the masterpieces at Palazzo dei Diamanti, and finally get a sense of history and politics at Castello Estense. On the next day, admire the masterpieces at Museo di Casa Romei, pick up a one of a kind souvenir at Libreria Editrice Belriguardo, admire the striking features of Palazzo Roverella, then explore the wealth of natural beauty at Parco Naturale Regionale del Delta del Po, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Chiesa di San Marco Evangelista.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major airports are Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport, Verona Villafranca Airport and Venice Marco Polo Airport. In October, plan for daily highs up to 67°F, and evening lows to 50°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 21st (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
