The former capital of Guatemala and a World Heritage Site, Antigua retains its colonial charm and remains one of the most visited destinations in the country.
Convento Santa Clara and Iglesia de La Merced will appeal to history buffs. Take a break from the city and head to Volcán Pacaya and Valhalla Experimental Station. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Antigua: Guatemala City (Palacio Nacional, La Merced, & more). Next up on the itinerary: soothe aching muscles at some of the top local wellness centers, don't miss a visit to Cerro de la Cruz, steep yourself in history at Palacio de los Capitanes Generales, and pause for some serene contemplation at Church of San Francisco.
