City of a Hundred Spires

Prague lures millions of tourists each year with its World Heritage-listed medieval city center--a labyrinth of narrow lanes, bridges, cathedrals, and palaces overlooked by a thousand-year-old castle.
You've now added Gourmet Hiking Escapes to your itinerary. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Vridelni kolonada and Zpivajici fontana. Change things up with these side-trips from Prague: Hluboka nad Vltavou (The State Chateau of Hluboká & Alsova jihoceska galerie), Památník Terezín - Malá pevnost (in Terezin) and Historic Centre of Telc (in Telc). There's still lots to do: don't miss a visit to National Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrich Terror, explore the engaging exhibits at Gallery of Steel Figures, pause for some serene contemplation at St Bartholomew's Cathedral, and walk around Vyšehradské sady.

To find maps, more things to do, traveler tips, and more tourist information, read Prague road trip planning website.

City of Dreams

The cultural, economic, and political center of the country, Vienna has developed from its early Celtic and Roman roots into a medieval and Baroque city, with an old town that was designated a World Heritage Site in 2001.
Start off your visit on the 14th (Thu): delve into the lush surroundings at Vienna Woods, then get to know the fascinating history of Myrafaelle, and then stroll around Doblhoff Park. Keep things going the next day: admire the verdant scenery at Wachau Valley, then explore the historical opulence of Burgruine Duernstein, then appreciate the history behind Pestsäule, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of St. Michael's Church.
