Surrounded by lakes and featuring impressive areas of geothermal landscape, the city of Rotorua offers an otherwordly landscape and a welcoming, peaceful environment, with the culture of the native Maori people very much in the foreground.
Step off the beaten path and head to Redwoods Treewalk and Paradise Valley Springs Wildlife Park. Change things up with these side-trips from Rotorua: Taupo (Huka Falls Walkway & Souvenir Outlet). Stockholm, Sweden to Rotorua is an approximately 31-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 11 hours traveling from Stockholm to Rotorua. While traveling from Stockholm, expect little chillier days and about the same nights in Rotorua, ranging from highs of 18°C to lows of 9°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 6th (Sat) so you can go by car to Waitomo Caves.

Start off your visit on the 10th (Wed): look for all kinds of wild species at Penguin Place and then tour the old-fashioned way with a train tour.
