Set against the stark but scenic coastline of the Bass Strait--the body of water separating Victoria and Tasmania--Torquay is a prime location for surfing and beach life in general.
Get out of town with these interesting Torquay side-trips: Split Point Lighthouse (in Aireys Inlet), Cape Otway Lightstation (in Cape Otway) and Apollo Bay (Great Ocean Walk & Mait's Rest).
