Despite its small size, Sligo serves as a major center of culture, commerce, and entertainment in the northwestern section of Ireland.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Dunmoran Strand and Downpatrick Head. Visit Belleek Castle Museum and Carrowkeel Passage Tomb Cemetery for their historical value. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Sligo: Michael Davitt Museum (in Foxford), Hennigan's Heritage Centre (in Swinford) and Glenview Folk Museum (in Ballinamore). The adventure continues: tee off at County Sligo Golf Club, take in the spiritual surroundings of Sligo Abbey, and make a trip to Mullaghmore Coast.
