Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Get in touch with nature at Opossum Bay Beach and Kingston Beach. Your inner history buff will appreciate St. David's Cathedral and St John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. Spend the 17th (Mon) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Brisbane to Hobart is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of car and ferry. In February, Hobart is little chillier than Brisbane - with highs of 26°C and lows of 14°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 18th (Tue) early enough to go by car to Eaglehawk Neck.

George Town is a large town in north-east Tasmania, on the eastern bank of the mouth of the Tamar River. Start off your visit on the 25th (Tue): identify plant and animal life at Platypus House, learn about winemaking at Holm Oak Vineyards, then do a tasting at Loira Vines, then enjoy the sea views from The Low Head Lighthouse, and finally learn about all things military at Low Head Pilot Station Maritime Museum.
