Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Start off your visit on the 15th (Sat): take an in-depth tour of Museo Larco. Keep things going the next day: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at San Pedro Church (Iglesia de San Pedro), make a trip to Plaza de Armas (Plaza Mayor), then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco, then wander the streets of Miraflores, and finally walk around Circuito Magico Del Agua.

Mexico City, Mexico to Lima is an approximately 7-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Mexico City to Lima. When traveling from Mexico City in June, plan for a bit cooler days in Lima, with highs around 24°C, while nights are somewhat warmer with lows around 20°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 17th (Mon) so you can travel to Caraz.

Capital of the Inca Empire for three centuries, World Heritage-listed Cusco is now a major tourist destination, drawing nearly 2 million annual tourists with its well-preserved colonial architecture and proximity to Machu Picchu.
Venture out of the city with trips to Centro Texti Urpi (in Chinchero) and Salinas de Maras (in Maras). There's lots more to do: contemplate the long history of Sacsayhuaman, take an in-depth tour of Museo Inka, explore the ancient world of Tambomachay, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cusco Cathedral.

Getting from Machu Picchu to Cusco by combination of train and bus takes about 3.5 hours. Other options: take a train; or drive. In June in Cusco, expect temperatures between 24°C during the day and 1°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel to Puno.

Traveling by combination of flight and bus from Cusco to Puno takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Cusco in June, Puno is a bit cooler at night with lows of -5°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Fri) to allow time to drive to Arequipa.
