The former capital of Guatemala and a World Heritage Site, Antigua retains its colonial charm and remains one of the most visited destinations in the country.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Volcán Pacaya and Casa Santo Domingo Museums. Your inner history buff will appreciate Iglesia de La Merced and Cathedral de Santiago. Step out of Antigua to go to Panajachel and see Iximche, which is approximately 1h 30 min away. Next up on the itinerary: explore the ancient world of Arco de Santa Catalina, stop by Casa de Artes, steep yourself in history at Casa Popenoe, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of San Francisco.

Vancouver, Canada to Antigua is an approximately 13-hour combination of flight and bus. You can also do a combination of flight, car, bus, and shuttle; or drive. Sitting in a scenic spot among towering mountains, Chichicastenango has a large indigenous population and displays its cultural heritage in a burst of color when hosting its long-established market.
On the 9th (Wed), contemplate the long history of Pascual Abaj, stroll the grounds of Chichi Cemetery, and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Santo Tomas Church. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: look for all kinds of wild species at Parque Ecologico Los Senderos del Abuelo.
