Take a break from the city and head to Butterfly Conservatory and Los Lagos Hot Springs. Discover out-of-the-way places like Paradise Hot Springs and Venado Caves. When in La Fortuna de San Carlos, make a side trip to see Arenal Eco Zoo in El Castillo, approximately 38 minutes away. The adventure continues: admire the natural beauty at Arenal Natura Ecological Park, head outdoors with Canopy San Luis, view the masterpieces at Onirica Art Gallery, and get impressive views of Cerro Chato (Chato Volcano).

San Jose to La Fortuna de San Carlos is an approximately 2.5-hour car ride. You can also take a shuttle; or take a bus. Finish your sightseeing early on the 31st (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to Uvita.

Ideal for visitors looking to escape Costa Rica's busy beaches, Uvita offers a serene atmosphere and plenty of uncrowded sand for a leisurely vacation.
Take a break from the city and head to Uvita Beach and Dolphin & Whale Watching. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Oro Verde Biological Reserve and Discount Liquor Wine & Cigars. Step out of Uvita with an excursion to Los Cusingos Neotropical Bird Sanctuary in San Isidro del General--about 1h 05 min away. Spend the 31st (Sun) exploring nature at Parque Nacional Marino Ballena. There's still lots to do: admire the sheer force of Santa Lucia Falls, get outside with Parque Nacional Marino Bahia Ballena, and look for gifts at Mama Toucan's Natural and Organic Food Store.

The rainforest meets the sea at Manuel Antonio National Park, a small but scenic natural preserve on the west coast of Costa Rica.
Step out of the city life by going to Naturalist Michael Araya Flores and Playa Bejuco. Explore hidden gems such as Palo Seco Beach and Beso Loco Boutique de Playa. Step out of Manuel Antonio with an excursion to Los Campesinos Reserve in Quepos--about 1h 15 min away. There's still lots to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Playa Espadilla Norte and admire the sheer force of Mulguri Adventure.
