A long-established beach community, Playas del Coco has developed a reputation as a favored spot for young travelers and locals to let loose by the sea.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Iglesia Catolica de Playas del Coco and Lis Umana Beachwear. You'll get in some beach time at Playa Avellana and Playa Conchal. Go for a jaunt from Playas del Coco to El Guapote to see Pura Aventura about 1h 15 min away. There's much more to do: take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports, kick back and relax at Playa Hermosa, and browse the exhibits of Rojas Bros Boruca Indigenous Arts.

Porto, Portugal to Playas del Coco is an approximately 16.5- hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and taxi; or do a combination of train and flight. The time zone difference when traveling from Porto to Playas del Coco is minus 6 hours. Cap off your sightseeing on the 30th (Wed) early enough to catch the bus to San Jose.

A trip to San Jose, the capital, commercial center, and cultural hub of Costa Rica, gives you a chance to experience the lively atmosphere and rich cultural past of this vibrant country.
On the 30th (Wed), get engrossed in the history at Museo Dr. Rafael Calderon Guardia, contemplate the long history of Ruins of Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de la Limpia Concepcion, and then pause for some serene contemplation at Santuario Nacional Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles. On the next day, take an in-depth tour of Museo Nacional De Costa Rica, then pause for some serene contemplation at Metal Church, and then get to know the resident critters at Zoo Ave.

You can take a bus from Playas del Coco to San Jose in 4 hours. Another option is to drive. In August, plan for daily highs up to 32°C, and evening lows to 22°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 1st (Fri) so you can travel to Santa Teresa.

A coastal getaway popular with surfers and young travelers, Santa Teresa spreads out from the beach and the main coastal road to a ring of newer developments on the surrounding hills.
Kick off your visit on the 2nd (Sat): enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Hermosa, then enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Santa Teresa, and then stop by Tica Surf Bikinis. Here are some ideas for day two: kick back and relax at Playa Carmen and then take in the dramatic scenery at Montezuma Falls.
