Take a break from the city and head to Turbary Woods Owl and Bird of Prey Sanctuary and York Bird of Prey Centre. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre and The British Ironwork Centre. Venture out of the city with trips to Gladstone Pottery Museum (in Longton), Dovedale (in Ashbourne) and York Cold War Bunker (in York).
