Just west of Vilnius lies the lake resort and historical city of Trakai, famed for its fairy tale-like cityscape and the eclectic mix of communities that built it.
Get out of town with these interesting Trakai side-trips: Druskininkai (Girios Aidas, Druskininkai Aquapark, & more), Capitals Golf Club (in Elektrenai) and Kernave (Reconstruction of the 13th and 14th Century Craftsmen's Yards in Kernavė & Kernave Mounds). There's lots more to do: admire the landmark architecture of Trakai Island Castle Museum, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kenesa, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Trakai Orthodox Church, and snap pictures at White Rose Bridge.

To find more things to do, reviews, where to stay, and more tourist information, you can read our Trakai trip maker app .

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major airports are Vilnius International Airport and Kaunas International Airport. In May, daily temperatures in Trakai can reach 66°F, while at night they dip to 46°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 15th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
