Dublin, Ireland to Taipei is an approximately 18-hour flight. The time zone changes from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) to Taipei Standard Time (CST), which is usually an 8 hour difference. Traveling from Dublin in October, things will get much hotter in Taipei: highs are around 32°C and lows about 26°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 28th (Fri) so you can catch the train to Xiulin.

Xiulin — 2 nights

Xiulin Township or Sioulin Township is a mountain indigenous township of Hualien County, Taiwan. Kick off your visit on the 29th (Sat): head outdoors with Su-Hua Highway, get outside with Baiyang Trail, and then trek along Taroko Gorge. On the 30th (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: hike along Zhuilu Old Trail, trek along Shakadang Trail, and then pause for some photo ops at Eternal Spring Shrine.

Take a train from Taipei to Xiulin in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Sun) to allow enough time to take a train to Hualien City.

Hualien City — 2 nights


Nestled between the sea and the mountains, Hualien boasts a number of attractions, both natural and manmade.
Kick off your visit on the 31st (Mon): grab your bike and head to Qixing Lake Binhai Bicycle Road and then surround yourself with nature on Island Life Taiwan Adventures & Experiences. On the next day, see the sights as you ascend with a climbing tour.

Traveling by train from Xiulin to Hualien City takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 1st (Tue) so you can go by car to Hengchun.

Hengchun — 2 nights

Located on the southern tip of the eponymous peninsula, Hengchun serves as the entry point to Kenting National Park, often attracting more travelers than locals with its tropical beach resorts and bustling night markets.
On the 2nd (Wed), explore the wealth of natural beauty at Kenting National Park. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 3rd (Thu): see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, get outside with White Sand Bay, and then walk around Longpan Park.

Drive from Hualien City to Hengchun in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and bus; or do a combination of train and bus. In November, daytime highs in Hengchun are 34°C, while nighttime lows are 25°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Thu) early enough to drive to Yuchi.

You can drive from Hengchun to Yuchi in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus, train, and taxi; or do a combination of bus and taxi. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Hengchun in November: high temperatures in Yuchi hover around 30°C and lows are around 20°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 6th (Sun) early enough to travel back home.
