Founded by the Spanish in 1521, San Juan is the oldest city under U.S. jurisdiction and one of the oldest in the Americas.
San Juan is known for historic sites, adventure, and sightseeing. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: appreciate the extensive heritage of Sitio Histórico de San Juan, sample the fine beverages at Casa Bacardi Puerto Rico, skim along the rocks with a canyoning and rapelling tour, and wander the streets of Old San Juan.

Valencia, Spain to San Juan is an approximately 14-hour combination of train and flight. You can also fly. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 5 hours traveling from Valencia to San Juan. Traveling from Valencia in January, things will get much hotter in San Juan: highs are around 34°C and lows about 26°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Wed) to allow enough time to drive to Ponce.

Ponce — 1 night

Ponce is both a city and a municipality in the southern part of Puerto Rico. On the 19th (Thu), see the interesting displays at Parque de Bombas, get engrossed in the history at Museo de Arte de Ponce, and then kick back and relax at La Guancha de Ponce.

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
