Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Universal Studios Japan as well as Osaka Castle. On the 11th (Mon), take a stroll through Dotonbori, then enjoy breathtaking views from Harukas 300 Observation Deck, and then get in on the family fun at Universal Studios Japan. Here are some ideas for day two: get a taste of the local shopping with Hankyu Umeda Honten, then step into the grandiose world of Osaka Castle, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Nigatsu-do Temple, and finally don't miss a visit to Hozenji Yokocho.

Ubud, Indonesia to Osaka is an approximately 11.5-hour combination of bus and flight. You can also do a combination of bus, flight, and train. Kyoto is just a short distance from Osaka. May in Kyoto sees daily highs of 29°C and lows of 17°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Sat) so you can take a train to Nara.

Start off your visit on the 16th (Sat): take in the spiritual surroundings of Toshodai-ji Temple, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Horyu-ji Temple, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Omiwa Shrine, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Hase-dera Temple. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 17th (Sun): make a trip to Sanjodori Street and then take an in-depth tour of Kofuku-ji Temple National Treasure Hall.

You can take a train from Kyoto to Nara in an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of subway and train. Plan for somewhat warmer nights when traveling from Kyoto in May since evenings lows in Nara dip to 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 17th (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to Gotemba.

You can drive from Nara to Gotemba in 4 hours. Other options are to take a train; or do a combination of flight and train. Traveling from Nara in May, things will get a bit cooler in Gotemba: highs are around 21°C and lows about 19°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 20th (Wed) early enough to go by car to Tokyo.
