Toronto, Canada to Tokyo is an approximately 17.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of ferry and flight; or do a combination of shuttle and flight. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time to Japan Standard Time, which is usually a 14 hour difference. Traveling from Toronto in March, expect Tokyo to be a bit warmer, temps between 17°C and 7°C. On the 5th (Sun), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Kanazawa.

On the 5th (Sun), take in nature's colorful creations at Kenrokuen Garden, explore the historical opulence of Kanazawa Castle, wander the streets of Higashichaya Old Town, make a trip to Omicho Market, then admire the landmark architecture of Kanazawa Station, and finally steep yourself in history at Nomura Family Samurai House.

You can take a train from Tokyo to Kanazawa in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. Expect little chillier evenings in Kanazawa when traveling from Tokyo in April, with lows around 8°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 5th (Sun) early enough to catch the train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Step out of Kyoto to go to Nara and see Todai-ji Temple, which is approximately 1 hour away. There's lots more to do: contemplate the long history of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, explore the historical opulence of Nijo Castle, and take in the pleasant sights at Arashiyama.

Traveling by train from Kanazawa to Kyoto takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In April, daytime highs in Kyoto are 22°C, while nighttime lows are 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Thu) to allow enough time to take a train to Osaka.
