Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Venture out of the city with trips to Verona (Piazza delle Erbe, Arena di Verona, &more). The adventure continues: explore the activities along Canal Grande, admire the landmark architecture of Basilica di San Marco, admire the masterpieces at Museo Correr, and see the interesting displays at Doge's Palace.

Ankara, Turkey to Venice is an approximately 9- hour combination of bus and flight. You can also do a combination of bus, flight, and train; or drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 2 hours traveling from Ankara to Venice. When traveling from Ankara in August, plan for somewhat warmer days and a bit cooler nights in Venice: temperatures range from 34°C by day to 22°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 16th (Sun) early enough to catch the train to Florence.
