Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, gives most visitors their first taste of the country, along with all of its rugged and lively charm.
Venture out of the city with trips to Place Saint-Pierre (in Petionville), Village Artistique de Noailles (in Croix-des-Bouquets) and Montrouis (Museum Ogier-Fombrun & Kay Piat). Haiti's second city, Cap-Haitien offers an atmosphere at odds with what you'll find in the capital.
Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Cap-Haitien: A Paradise Cove Escape and Haitian Village Experience (in Labadee) and Milot (Cathedrale de Milot, Citadelle Laferrière, &more). There's lots more to do: contemplate the long history of National History Park - Citadel, Sans Souci, Ramiers, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cathedrale Notre Dame de Cap Haitien, and pause for some photo ops at Heros de Vertieres.

Start off your visit on the 27th (Tue): admire the masterpieces at Jacmel Arts Center, tour the pleasant surroundings at Bassin Bleu, and then browse the eclectic array of goods at Marche de Fer. Keep things going the next day: stroll through Jacmel Beach.
