Crete's largest city, Heraklion remains best known for its proximity to a sprawling Bronze Age archaeological site, once the center of a vanished Minoan civilization.
On the 8th (Sun), take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of Saint Titus, then delve into the distant past at The Palace of Knossos, and then kick back and relax at Stalis Beach. On the next day, meet the residents at Aquaworld Aquarium & Reptile Rescue Centre, examine the collection at Lychnostatis Open Air Museum, then get engrossed in the history at Heraklion Archaeological Museum, and finally learn more about the world around you at The Natural History Museum of Crete.

Fira, the busy capital of Santorini, sits on the very edge of a volcanic caldera.
Get some cultural insight at Akrotiri and Ekklisia Panagia Platsani. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Perivolos and Skaros Rock. There's still lots to do: surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour, see the interesting displays at Museum of Prehistoric Thera, do a tasting at Santo Winery, and stroll through Hiking Trail Fira - Oia.
