Kick off your visit on the 5th (Mon): let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour and then get a sense of history and politics at Correos de Costa Rica.

Montevideo, Uruguay to San Jose is an approximately 13-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 3 hours traveling from Montevideo to San Jose. In February in San Jose, expect temperatures between 30°C during the day and 21°C at night. On the 6th (Tue), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to La Fortuna de San Carlos.

With a scenic position on a sheltered bay, Montezuma remains one of Costa Rica's quieter destinations, attracting mostly backpackers and other explorers averse to making detailed travel plans.
Take a break from the city and head to Playa Hermosa and Playa Santa Teresa. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Spas & Wellness and Montezuma Falls. Step out of Montezuma with an excursion to Tica Surf Bikinis in Santa Teresa--about 30 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: identify plant and animal life at Costa Rica Color.
