The rainforest meets the sea at Manuel Antonio National Park, a small but scenic natural preserve on the west coast of Costa Rica.
Kick off your visit on the 26th (Sat): tour the pleasant surroundings at Playa Biesanz and then kick back and relax at Playa Manuel Antonio. On the 27th (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: soothe aching muscles at some of the top local wellness centers and then get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour.

You can do a combination of taxi and flight from La Fortuna de San Carlos to Manuel Antonio in 1.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a shuttle. In May, daily temperatures in Manuel Antonio can reach 81°F, while at night they dip to 68°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Sun) so you can drive to Uvita.

Surfing remains the main reason to take a trip to Tamarindo, as the beachside town is mostly known for its excellent waves.
Get in touch with nature at Adrenaline & Extreme Tours and Tamarindo Beach. Step off the beaten path and head to Spas & Wellness and Pura Aventura. Change things up with a short trip to Fishing Charters & Tours in Playa Flamingo (about 32 minutes away). There's still lots to do: look for gifts at Papaya Con Leche.
