Juneau is an unusual state capital in many respects.
Step out of the city life by going to Photography Tours and Perseverance National Recreation Trail. Discover out-of-the-way places like Eagle Beach and DIPAC's Macaulay Salmon Hatchery. Newark to Juneau is an approximately 10.5-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 4 hours traveling from Newark to Juneau. The Adventure Capital of Alaska

Sitting on the shores of Alaska's longest fjord and surrounded by mountains, the port city of Haines boasts spectacular scenery.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Fishing Charters & Tours and Alaska Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. Step out of the city life by going to The Kroschel Wildlife Center and Chilkoot River. There's still lots to do: capture your vacation like a pro with an inspiring photography tour, see the interesting displays at American Bald Eagle Foundation, and admire the masterpieces at Sheldon Museum and Cultural Center.

Fly from Juneau to Haines in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can ride a ferry. Expect a daytime high around 3°C in March, and nighttime lows around -3°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Fri) to allow enough time to ride a ferry to Skagway.

The Municipality and Borough of Skagway is a first-class borough in Alaska on the Alaska Panhandle. Discover out-of-the-way places like Lower Reid Falls and Skagway Museum and Archives. Step out of the city life by going to Lower Dewey Lake Hiking Trail and Yakutania Point. Ride a ferry from Haines to Skagway in 1.5 hours. In March in Skagway, expect temperatures between 4°C during the day and -2°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 14th (Mon) early enough to catch the flight to Anchorage.

The City of Lights and Flowers

Home to nearly half of Alaska's population, the port city of Anchorage covers a staggering area of over 4,900 sq km (1,900 sq mi) surrounded by mountains.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Alyeska Ski Area and Alaska Botanical Garden. Visiting Seward Hwy and Cook Inlet will get you outdoors. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Anchorage: Whittier (Kayaking & Canoeing & Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel). There's still lots to do: take an in-depth tour of Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum and go deep underground at Crow Creek Mine.

Fly from Skagway to Anchorage in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Skagway in March, things will get a bit cooler in Anchorage: highs are around 1°C and lows about -9°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 17th (Thu) so you can go by car to Talkeetna.

Talkeetna is a census-designated place in Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska, United States. On the 18th (Fri), contemplate the waterfront views at Byers Lake and then head outdoors with Hurricane Turn.
