Portorož

A resort town on the country's scenic Adriatic coastline, Portoroz offers many spas with all kinds of therapeutic treatments, many based on the brine and mud from the area's salt pans.
Step out of the city life by going to Portorož Beach and Strunjan Nature Reserve. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Magical World of Shells Museum and Zusterna Beach. Step out of Portorož to go to Škocjan and see Škocjan Caves, which is approximately 36 minutes away. There's still lots to do: make a trip to Tartini Square, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Koper Cathedral and Bell Tower, enjoy the sand and surf at Svetilnik Beach, and take in the spiritual surroundings of St. George's Church.

You can drive from Ljubljana to Portorož in 1.5 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. Expect somewhat warmer evenings in Portorož when traveling from Ljubljana in July, with lows around 20°C.
