Sandakan — 2 nights

Taking a trip to Sandakan remains one of the best ways to enjoy eco-friendly and culturally rewarding adventures in one of Borneo's largest cities.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Sepilok Tropical Wildlife Adventure and Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple. Go for a jaunt from Sandakan to Sepilok to see Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre about 32 minutes away. There's much more to do: step off the mainland to explore Lankayan island, stroll through Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC), get engrossed in the history at Sandakan Memorial Park, and learn more about the world around you at Sandakan Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC).

Semporna — 3 nights

A largely residential city of around 135,000, Semporna has gained popularity in recent years due to its archipelago's good connection to the surrounding islands, including very popular diving or snorkeling destinations such as Sipadan.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Sipadan National Park and Bohey Dulang Island. There's still lots to do: head off the coast to Tun Sakaran Marine Park, discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour, explore the fascinating underground world of Madai Caves, and don't miss a visit to Bukit Tengkorak (Skull Hill).
