Newport

A town that survives on the sea, Newport's population of just over 10,000 supports a healthy commercial fishing industry.
Get in touch with nature at Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area and Nye Beach. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Cape Perpetua Visitor Center - Siuslaw National Forest and Devil's Churn. Next up on the itinerary: enjoy the sand and surf at Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area, head outdoors with Outdoor Activities, enjoy the sea views from Yaquina Head Lighthouse, and cruise along Otter Crest Loop.

Astoria

Spirit of the Columbia

Astoria, named for famed fur trader John Jacob Astor, resides near the mouth of the Columbia River.
You'll get in some beach time at Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Astoria Column and Ecola State Park. Take a break from Astoria with a short trip to Hug Point State Park in Cannon Beach, about 38 minutes away. There's more to do: admire the majestic nature at Fort Stevens State Park and contemplate the waterfront views at Columbia River Maritime Museum.

Getting from Newport to Astoria by car takes about 3.5 hours. Other options: take a bus. In June, plan for daily highs up to 66°F, and evening lows to 52°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 14th (Tue) so you can go by car to Seattle.

Nicknamed the "Emerald City" because of its abundant evergreen trees, Seattle is the cultural and business center of the Pacific Northwest, as well as a popular holiday destination.
Family-friendly places like Space Needle and Pike Place Market will thrill your kids. Get in touch with nature at Snoqualmie Falls and Puget Sound Express. There's still lots to do: take in the exciting artwork at Chihuly Garden and Glass, appreciate the history behind Fremont Troll, see the interesting displays at The Museum of Flight, and walk around Green Lake Park.

Traveling from Astoria in June, expect nights in Seattle to be about the same, around 57°F, while days are a bit warmer, around 74°F. On the 18th (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can fly back home.
