Beaumaris is a former royal borough, a community, and the former county town of Anglesey, Wales. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Beaumaris: Llanddwyn Beach (in Dwyran), South Stack Lighthouse (in Holyhead) and National Slate Museum (in Llanberis). There's lots more to do: contemplate the long history of Caernarfon Castle, explore the historical opulence of Beaumaris Castle, take in the views from Menai Suspension Bridge, and get in on the family fun at GreenWood Forest Park.

Porthmadog, known locally as "Port", and since 1974, rendered into Welsh from its former Anglicised form, Portmadoc, is a small coastal town and community in the Eifionydd area of Gwynedd, in Wales. Venture out of the city with trips to St Gwyddelan's Church (in Dolwyddelan), Barmouth Beach (in Barmouth) and Cwm Idwal National Nature Reserve (in Bethesda). There's still lots to do: take in the awesome beauty at Snowdon, hike along Watkin Path, explore the activities along Talyllyn Lake, and make a trip to Gelert's Grave.

You can drive from Beaumaris to Porthmadog in an hour. Another option is to take a bus. May in Porthmadog sees daily highs of 17°C and lows of 9°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Tue) early enough to go by car to Wrexham.

Wrexham is the largest town in the north of Wales and an administrative, commercial, retail and educational centre. Change things up with a short trip to North Wales Owl Sanctuary in Corwen (about 36 minutes away). And it doesn't end there: don't miss a visit to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, grab your bike and head to Nercwys Forest, step into the grandiose world of Castell Dinas Bran, and contemplate the long history of Erddig.
