Built on a desolate swamp as a showcase capital of Imperial Russia, this grand city has certainly lived up to the expectations of its founder, Tsar Peter the Great.
Start off your visit on the 21st (Mon): take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, pause for some serene contemplation at The Museum Complex The State Museum St. Isaac’s Cathedral, then make a trip to Palace Square (Dvortsovaya Ploshchad), and finally see the interesting displays at Russian Museum.
