The site of the continent's first Spanish colony, Cartagena retains much of its colonial flavor thanks to a World Heritage-listed old town, encircled by old walls and protected by imposing fortresses.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at San Felipe de Barajas Castle and Convento La Popa de la Galera. Popular historic sites such as Walled City of Cartagena and Iglesia de la Trinidad are in your itinerary. When in Cartagena, make a side trip to see Playa Blanca in Isla Baru, approximately 1h 05 min away. There's still lots to do: contemplate the geological forces at Volcan de Lodo El Totumo (Mud Volcano), don't miss a visit to Plaza Bolivar, pause for some serene contemplation at Sanctuary of Saint Peter Claver, and admire the landmark architecture of Las Bovedas.

You'll explore and learn at Gold Museum (Museo del Oro) and Museo Botero del Banco de la Republica. Visit Catedral de Sal and Bolivar plaza for their historical value.
