Strasbourg

Crossroads of Europe

Strasbourg is famous for its beautiful historical center, the Grande Île, which was the first city center classified entirely as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Strasbourg is one of the nine largest cities in France with nearly half a million inhabitants in the metropolitan area crossing the river to the German city of Kehl, on the eastern bank of the Rhine River.
Get out of town with these interesting Strasbourg side-trips: Gerald Kieffer Vins d'Alsace (in Itterswiller), Orschwiller (Domaine Claude et Christophe Bleger, Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg, &more) and Eglise Sainte-Odile (in Lapoutroie). Next up on the itinerary: wander the streets of La Petite France, get to know the fascinating history of Centre-ville de Strasbourg, ponder the world of politics at European Parliament Strasbourg, and stroll around Parc de l'Orangerie.

To see photos, where to stay, and tourist information, refer to the Strasbourg journey maker site.

Sacramento, USA to Strasbourg is an approximately 18.5-hour combination of flight and train. The time zone difference moving from Pacific Standard Time to Central European Standard Time is 9 hours. When traveling from Sacramento in July, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Strasbourg: temperatures range from 82°F by day to 60°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 18th (Mon) early enough to go by car to Mulhouse.
