The booming city of Bucharest is a sophisticated metropolis with a high contrast of old- and new-world architecture.

Named after the monastery around which it was built, Sinaia is a mountain resort and popular holiday destination for Romanians and foreigners alike.
Start off your visit on the 12th (Mon): shop like a local with La Cabane Aux Images, then pause for some serene contemplation at Predeal Monastery, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ialomicioara Monastery and Cave, and finally examine the collection at Casino Sinaia. On the 13th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the spiritual surroundings of Sinaia Monastery, contemplate the long history of George Enescu Memorial House, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Cabana Babele, then don't miss a visit to Crucea Caraiman, and finally examine the collection at Cantacuzino Castle.

Take a train from Bucharest to Sinaia in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Finish your sightseeing early on the 13th (Tue) to allow enough time to take a bus to Brasov.

With the dramatic Carpathian Mountains as backdrop, Brasov is the largest city in a region of mountain resorts.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle) and Rasnov Citadel. Sinagoga Neologa and Brasov Historical Center will appeal to history buffs. Step out of Brasov to go to Baile Tusnad and see Saint Anna Lake, which is approximately 1h 30 min away. There's still lots to do: take in the awesome beauty at Mount Tampa, glide through the air with a parasailing or paragliding tour, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Catedrala Ortodoxa Adormirea Maicii Domnului, and relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas.

Getting from Sinaia to Brasov by bus takes about an hour. Other options: take a train; or drive. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 18th (Sun) so you can go by car to Cluj-Napoca.

The multicultural Cluj-Napoca is the capital of the historic region of Transylvania.
Get in touch with nature at Moara de Vant and Szekelyko. Coltesti Castle Ruins and Avenue of Heroes in Cluj-Napoca are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Go for a jaunt from Cluj-Napoca to Turda to see Muzeul de Istorie Turda about 40 minutes away. There's much more to do: take in the dramatic scenery at Bridal Veil Falls, stroll the grounds of Hazsongard Cemetery, and head outdoors with Panic Room.
