Capital of the Inca Empire for three centuries, World Heritage-listed Cusco is now a major tourist destination, drawing nearly 2 million annual tourists with its well-preserved colonial architecture and proximity to Machu Picchu.
Get outdoors at Nature & Wildlife Tours and exploor. Sacsayhuaman and San Blas are good opportunities to explore the local culture. And it doesn't end there: get engrossed in the history at Museo Inka, steep yourself in history at Qorikancha, and explore the ancient world of Centro Historico De Cusco.

Hartford, USA to Cusco is an approximately 19.5-hour combination of car and flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight. Traveling from Hartford in March, you will find days in Cusco are much hotter (68°F), and nights are a bit warmer (46°F). On the 13th (Sun), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Piura.

First City

The first Spanish city established in an area now controlled by Peru, Piura was founded by Francisco Pizarro in 1532.
On your second day here, stroll through Nadando con Tortugas en El Nuro and then don't miss a visit to Plaza de Armas de Piura.

Traveling by flight from Cusco to Piura takes 6.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive; or take a bus. Plan for much hotter temperatures traveling from Cusco in March, with highs in Piura at 93°F and lows at 73°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 16th (Wed) to allow time to drive to Mancora.

Mancora — 4 nights

In a busy little beach town, Mancora tourism industry continues to grow, largely thanks to the sunniest climate of any region in the country.
