Padua, Italy — 1 night

Holy City

Padua is a picturesque city with a dense network of arcaded streets opening into large communal piazze (squares).
Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Fri): admire the masterpieces at Fondazione Bisazza and then admire the landmark architecture of Casa Ezzelino. On your second day here, pause for some serene contemplation at Basilica of St. Anthony, don't miss a visit to Prato della Valle, then see some colorful creatures with Y-40 The Deep Joy, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Chiesa degli Eremitani - World Heritage Site, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Scrovegni Chapel.

Dusseldorf, Germany to Padua is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. In December, plan for daily highs up to 7°C, and evening lows to 2°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Sat) so you can take a shuttle to Venice.

Venice, Italy — 4 nights

Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Venice: Verona (Arche Scaligere, Arena di Verona, &more).
