More than just one of the nation's top business centers, Columbus is a mixture of many different parts of America, situated at the spot where the so-called "Bible Belt" meets the varied cultures of the Great Plains and Appalachia.
Get out of town with these interesting Columbus side-trips: Rockbridge (Zipline & Conkles Hollow State Nature Preserve), National Museum of the U.S. Air Force (in Dayton) and Miami Valley Gaming (in Lebanon). Pack the 23rd (Wed) with family-friendly diversions at Kings Island. Explore Keystone's surroundings by going to Custer (Wildlife Loop Road, Custer State Park, & more) and Crazy Horse Memorial (in Crazy Horse). There's much more to do: appreciate the history behind Mount Rushmore National Memorial, tour the pleasant surroundings at Presidential Trail, stop by Professor Samuel's Portrait Emporium, and look for all kinds of wild species at Bear Country USA.
