A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.
Start off your visit on the 28th (Fri): admire the natural beauty at Lan Su Chinese Garden, get to know the fascinating history of Eastbank Esplanade, then take in nature's colorful creations at Portland Japanese Garden, then take in nature's colorful creations at International Rose Test Garden, and finally stop by Powell's City of Books. On the next day, stroll through Laurelhurst Park, admire nature's wide array of creatures at Oregon Zoo, admire the natural beauty at Hoyt Arboretum, then steep yourself in history at Pittock Mansion, and finally tour the pleasant surroundings at Forest Park.

Spokane to Portland is an approximately 3.5-hour combination of bus and flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Spokane in April, plan for a bit warmer nights in Portland, with lows around 44°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Sun) so you can travel to Los Angeles.

Step out of Los Angeles to go to Anaheim and see Disneyland Park, which is approximately 38 minutes away. Pack the 2nd (Tue) with family-friendly diversions at Universal Studios Hollywood. There's much more to do: examine the collection at Getty Center The Publications, see the sky in a new way at Griffith Observatory, appreciate the extensive heritage of Hollywood Walk of Fame, and take a leisurely stroll along Santa Monica Pier.

Fly from Portland to Los Angeles in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Prepare for somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Portland in April: high temperatures in Los Angeles hover around 74°F and lows are around 55°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 4th (Thu) early enough to travel to Las Vegas.

Take a break from Las Vegas with a short trip to Hoover Dam in Boulder City, about 42 minutes away. The adventure continues: take in the dramatic natural features at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, examine the collection at The Mob Museum, shop like a local with The Strip, and take in panoramic vistas at Eiffel Tower Experience at Paris Las Vegas.

You can do a combination of train and flight from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Los Angeles in May, things will get a bit warmer in Las Vegas: highs are around 88°F and lows about 65°F. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 7th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel to Issaquah.
