Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Cannaregio and Isola di Burano. Appreciate the collections at Doge's Palace and Gallerie dell'Accademia. Venture out of the city with trips to Padua (Scrovegni Chapel & Basilica di Sant’Antonio). There's still lots to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Basilica di San Marco, snap pictures at Ponte di Rialto, take in the spiritual surroundings of Scuola Grande di San Rocco, and contemplate the waterfront views at Canal Grande.
