Capital of the Ryukyu Kingdom

Naha, the capital of Okinawa, has deep roots: Stone Age relics have been found in the city, and through the Middle Ages it rose in importance in the Ryukyu Kingdom.
Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Shurijo Castle and Okinawa International Peace Research Institute. Bring the kids along to Nirai Beach and Scuba & Snorkeling. Get out of town with these interesting Naha side-trips: Himeyuri Peace Museum (in Itoman) and Apeman Spa (in Nanjo). It doesn't end there: examine the collection at Okinawa Prefecture Karate Museum.

Tokashiki-son

Motobu-cho

Miyakojima

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.

Ishigaki

Okinawa Prefecture is the southernmost prefecture of Japan. It comprises hundreds of the Ryukyu Islands in a chain over long.
