A concerted development project by the government given Gulf of Papagayo a growing number of luxury and all inclusive resort complexes and turned it into one of the country's leading holiday destinations.
Kick off your visit on the 5th (Fri): tee off at Four Seasons Golf Club and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Playa Hermosa. On the 6th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: stop by Souvenirs La gran Nicoya and then see Sea Star CR Sport Fishing and Adventure Tours.

Getting from Quepos to Gulf of Papagayo by combination of bus, taxi, and flight takes about 5 hours. Other options: do a combination of flight and shuttle; or take a bus. Traveling from Quepos in August, expect Gulf of Papagayo to be somewhat warmer, temps between 38°C and 26°C. On the 7th (Sun), you're off toTamarindo.

Surfing remains the main reason to take a trip to Tamarindo, as the beachside town is mostly known for its excellent waves.
