Sarajevo

— 5 nights

Jerusalem of Europe

Nearly destroyed by war during the 1990s, the riverside city of Sarajevo now serves as one of the region's major educational, cultural, and commercial hubs.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Bascarsija and Latin Bridge. There's much more to do: make a trip to Sarajevo War Tunnel, take in the local highlights with Walking tours, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, and explore the galleries of War Childhood Museum.

For maps, reviews, and more tourist information, use the Sarajevo trip itinerary site.

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to Sarajevo is an approximately 11-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of ferry and car. The time zone changes from Arabian Standard Time (AST) to Central European Standard Time (CET), which is usually a -2 hour difference. Cap off your sightseeing on the 4th (Sat) early enough to go by car to Trebinje.

Famed for its 16th-century bridge, Mostar boasts a rich cultural and architectural heritage.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Mostar: Apparition Hill (in Medjugorje) and Kravica (in Studenci). There's lots more to do: steep yourself in history at Old Bridge (Stari Most), get a taste of the local shopping with War Photo Exhibition, make a trip to Biscevica Kuca (Biscevic House), and explore the galleries of Museum of War and Genocide Victims 1992-1995.

Heart-Shaped Land
With the legacy of war still fresh on the streets of Bosnia and Herzegovina, this Balkan gem is often overlooked as a holiday destination. Part of the former Yugoslavia, Bosnia and Herzegovina endured a bloody and destructive war for independence in the 1990s, which ripped apart its capital and other important cities. Since then, Bosnians have moved on, and as the rest of the world does too, tourism in the country is slowly growing. You’ll be welcomed by locals with open arms, eager to share their country and culture with those who include Bosnia and Herzegovina in their itineraries. Sarajevo and Mostar top most visitors' list of places to visit for their rich history and charming streets. Make sure to indulge in some local specialities such as burek.
