Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.Explore hidden gems such as Nezu Museum and Nezu Shrine. The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.You'll discover tucked-away gems like Tofuku-ji Temple and Mt. Kurama. Do some cultural sightseeing at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Venture out of the city with trips to Uji (Byodoin, Byodo-in Temple Museum Hoshokan, &more). There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Shoren-in Temple (Shoren-in Monzeki), make a trip to Nijo Castle, tour the pleasant surroundings at Nanzen-ji Temple, and contemplate the long history of Kifune Shrine.

You can take a train from Tokyo to Kyoto in 3.5 hours. Other options are to fly; or drive. Expect a daytime high around 32°C in June, and nighttime lows around 22°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
