The Heart of Tasmania

Lying in the Tamar Valley and surrounded by forested hills, the grid-patterned city of Launceston boasts shaded avenues, vibrant street life, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary and Yarns Artwork in Silk. Visiting Tamar Island Wetlands and Mole Creek Caves will get you outdoors. Venture out of the city with trips to House of Anvers Museum of Chocolate (in Latrobe) and Marakoopa Cave (in Mole Creek). Coles Bay

Overlooking one of Tasmania's most scenic strips of coastline and serving as the gateway to Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay is home to just 500 permanent residents.
Escape the urban bustle at Freycinet National Park and Wineglass Bay Lookout. You'll get in some beach time at Friendly Beaches and Wineglass Bay. Step out of Coles Bay to go to Bicheno and see Bicheno Blowhole, which is approximately 38 minutes away. There's more to do: enjoy the sea views from Cape Tourville Lighthouse and do a tasting at Devil's Corner Cellar Door.

Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Drink Tasmania Premium Tours and Sullivans Cove. Museum of Old and New Art (Mona) and Maritime Museum OF Tasmania will appeal to museum buffs. Change things up with a short trip to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary in Brighton (about 30 minutes away).
