Reykjavik, the world's most northerly capital, effortlessly combines small-town charm with heaps of big city energy.
Get outdoors at Reykjadalur Hot Springs and Oxararfoss. Step off the beaten path and head to Horseback Riding Tours and Dolphin & Whale Watching. Change things up with these side-trips from Reykjavik: The Cave People (in Laugarvatn), Bruarfoss Waterfall (in Brekkuskogur) and Thingvellir National Park (in Thingvellir). Doha, Qatar to Reykjavik is an approximately 14-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 3 hours traveling from Doha to Reykjavik. Plan for colder temperatures traveling from Doha in August, with highs in Reykjavik at 16°C and lows at 9°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 10th (Mon) so you can travel to Akureyri.

Get in touch with nature at Mt. Namafjall (Namaskard) and Krafla Lava Fields. Discover out-of-the-way places like Dimmuborgir Lava Formations and Viti Crater. There's lots more to do: admire the sheer force of Hverfjall, get some thrills on the water with a speed boat tour, take in the exciting artwork at Linda Ola - Studio & Gallery, and take in nature's colorful creations at Arctic Botanical Gardens (Lystigardurinn).

Fly from Reykjavik to Akureyri in an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In August, daily temperatures in Akureyri can reach 16°C, while at night they dip to 8°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 13th (Thu) to allow enough time to travel to Vik.

Iceland's southernmost village, Vik, sports some of the country's wildest and most dramatic coastline.
Start off your visit on the 14th (Fri): trot along with a tour on horseback, then take in the dramatic natural features at Sólheimajökulll, then take in the dramatic natural features at Mýrdalsjökull, and finally admire the sheer force of Skogafoss.

Hella is a small town in southern Iceland on the shores of the river Ytri-Rangá and has, as of 2011, 781 inhabitants.Hella is situated to the east of Reykjavík on the Hringvegur (Route 1) between Selfoss and Hvolsvöllur.OverviewThe name of the town comes from caves near the river. On the 15th (Sat), take in the dramatic scenery at Seljalandsfoss - Waterfall, take in the dramatic scenery at Gljufrabui Waterfalls, then look for gifts at UNA Local Product, and finally take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback.

You can drive from Vik to Hella in 1.5 hours. Another option is to take a bus. In August, plan for daily highs up to 14°C, and evening lows to 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 16th (Sun) early enough to travel back home.
