Vik — 2 nights

Iceland's southernmost village, Vik, sports some of the country's wildest and most dramatic coastline.
Start off your visit on the 16th (Fri): add some entertainment to your itinerary with Icelandic Lava Show, then don't miss a visit to Dyrhólaey, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Black Sand Beach. On the 17th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: examine the collection at Skogar Museum, then admire the sheer force of Skogafoss, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Reyniskirkja Church, and finally kick back and relax at Reynisfjara Beach.

Edmonton, Canada to Vik is an approximately 14.5-hour combination of flight, shuttle, and bus. The time zone changes from Mountain Standard Time (MST) to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which is usually a 7 hour difference. Expect cooler weather when traveling from Edmonton in June: highs in Vik hover around 12°C, while lows dip to 9°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 17th (Sat) so you can go by car to Blaskogabyggd.

A conglomeration of several districts, Blaskogabyggd encompasses a handful of settlements totaling around 930 people in southwestern Iceland.
Kick off your visit on the 18th (Sun): take in the dramatic scenery at Bruarfoss Waterfall, then relax in the rural setting at Fridheimar, then admire the sheer force of Gullfoss Falls, and finally take in the natural beauty of Strokkur.

You can drive from Vik to Blaskogabyggd in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and taxi. In June, plan for daily highs up to 15°C, and evening lows to 9°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Sun) early enough to travel to Husavik.

Husavik — 3 nights

The popular town of Husavik not only boasts some of Iceland's best whale-watching opportunities but is arguably the northeast coast's prettiest town.
Get outdoors at Dettifoss Waterfall and Speed Boats Tours. The Húsavík Whale Museum and The Transportation Museum at Ystafell will appeal to museum buffs. Take a break from Husavik with a short trip to Hljooaklettar in Nordurthing, about 52 minutes away. There's still lots to do: witness a stunning natural landmark at Mývatn Nature Baths, stroll through Krafla Lava Fields, take in the pleasant sights at Viti Crater, and contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Myvatn.

Traveling by combination of bus and flight from Blaskogabyggd to Husavik takes 5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of car and bus. In June, daytime highs in Husavik are 15°C, while nighttime lows are 7°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 21st (Wed) early enough to catch the flight to Reykjavik.
