Considered a holy space where the gods once lived, the city of Tanabe teems with spiritual, cultural, and natural beauty.
Get out of town with these interesting Tanabe side-trips: Koya-cho (Kongobu-ji Temple, Mt. Koya, &more), Muryoko-ji Temple (in Wakayama) and Shirahama-cho (Shirarahama Beach, Sandambeki Rock Cliff, &more). The adventure continues: try out the rides at Adventure World, hike along Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Routes, make a trip to 十丈峠 Kumano Kodo Trail, and contemplate the long history of Oyunohara - Original Kumano Hongu Taisha Site.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
On the 27th (Sat), step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, then make a trip to Heian Shrine, and finally contemplate the long history of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine. Keep things going the next day: explore the historical opulence of Osaka Castle and then steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple.
