Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Kilchurn Castle and Eilean Donan Castle. Escape the urban bustle at Steall Waterfall and Ben Nevis. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Fort William: Glenfinnan Viaduct (in Glenfinnan), Oban (McCaig's Tower & Oban Distillery) and Inveraray Jail (in Inveraray). There's still lots to do: admire the verdant scenery at Glen Coe.
