Taos

Taos ©
Many residents have shunned fast-paced city living for Taos's laid-back vibe and blend of Spanish, Native American, and Anglo cultures.
Take a break from the city and head to Middlefork Lake and Mallette Park Nature Trail. Head to Chimayo Trading Del Norte and Taos Clay Studiofor some retail therapy. When in Taos, make a side trip to see Columbine Campground in Red River, approximately Red River away. There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at San Francisco de Assisi Mission Church, get a taste of the local shopping with Two Graces, indulge in some personalized pampering at some of the best spas, and do a tasting at Black Mesa Winery.

To see traveler tips, reviews, ratings, and other tourist information, refer to the Taos road trip site.

Cleveland to Taos is an approximately 9.5- hour combination of flight and car. You can also do a combination of flight and shuttle; or drive. You'll gain 2 hours traveling from Cleveland to Taos due to the time zone difference. Plan for slightly colder nights when traveling from Cleveland in April since evenings lows in Taos dip to 29°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Sat) to allow time to drive to Santa Fe.
