Once the booming capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom, the tropical paradise of Lahaina still remains one of Maui's top vacation attractions, providing both culture and recreation.

Knoxville to Lahaina is an approximately 12.5-hour flight. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time to Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time, which is usually a -5 hour difference. Expect somewhat warmer evenings in Lahaina when traveling from Knoxville in May, with lows around 70°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Tue) so you can fly to Hana.

Hana is one of the most isolated communities in Hawaii, with a permanent population of just over 1,000 people.

Start off your visit on the 24th (Wed): look for all kinds of wild species at Pools at Ohe'o, then stroll through Pipiwai Trail, and then kick back and relax at Red Sand Beach - Kaihalulu Beach. On the 25th (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: kick back and relax at Honokalani Black Sand Beach and then take in the dramatic natural features at Haleakala Crater.

You can fly from Lahaina to Hana in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. In May, daytime highs in Hana are 86°F, while nighttime lows are 68°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 26th (Fri) early enough to catch the flight back home.
