Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Appreciate the collections at Vatican Museums and Galleria Borghese. Palatine Hill and St. Peter's Basilica will appeal to history buffs. And it doesn't end there: admire the landmark architecture of Pantheon, steep yourself in history at Colosseum, make a trip to Piazza Navona, and admire the local landmark of Trevi Fountain.
