Known worldwide for the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the city of Pisa historically served as a maritime power in the heart of Tuscany.
Start off your visit on the 27th (Fri): contemplate the long history of Battistero and then make a trip to Leaning Tower of Pisa. On the next day, admire the landmark architecture of Duomo di Pisa, observe the fascinating underwater world at Acquario di Livorno, then make a trip to Terrazza Mascagni, and finally find something for the whole family at Cavallino Matto.

Valletta, Malta to Pisa is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of ferry, bus, and flight. Traveling from Valletta in December, things will get slightly colder in Pisa: highs are around 15°C and lows about 4°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Sat) to allow time to take a bus to Lucca.

On the 30th (Mon), kick back and relax at Spiaggia di Fegina, then hike along Cinque Terre Trails, then pause for some serene contemplation at Santa Margherita di Antiochia Church, and finally hike along Footpath Monterosso - Vernazza.

You can take a train from Carrara to Cinque Terre in an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and train. In December in Cinque Terre, expect temperatures between 15°C during the day and 4°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 30th (Mon) early enough to go by car to San Gimignano.
